On-site converter field service for ConverterTec, Woodward, SEG, IDS, Efacec and other platforms
On-site field service is provided for our own converter platforms: ConverterTec, former Woodward, SEG, IDS, and Efacec. For these platforms our capability covers the full range of converter interventions, from emergency response to planned maintenance visits, each supported by our engineering team, spare-part supply chain, and repair center. For other turbine platforms, such as GE and Vestas, we offer targeted solutions, including converter replacement and IGBT module replacement (see below).
Fault diagnostics and troubleshooting
When a converter trips, faults, or behaves unexpectedly, accurate and fast diagnosis is everything. Our field engineers use proprietary diagnostic tools developed specifically for ConverterTec, former Woodward, SEG, IDS, Efacec and other converter platforms, enabling rapid identification of faults at component level, including IGBT failures, generator failures and electronic boards faults, control system errors, and protection relay trips. We diagnose the root cause, not just the symptom, so the same fault does not return.
Preventive maintenance and health checks
Planned wind turbine converter maintenance is the most cost-effective way to manage converter reliability over the long term. Our preventive maintenance visits cover a structured inspection of all critical converter components: visual and electrical checks, thermal imaging to identify hotspots, capacitor condition assessment, cooling system inspection, and control system and protection systems review. Each visit produces a condition report and, where needed, a recommended action plan to address identified risks before they become failures.
Commissioning and recommissioning
We provide commissioning support for new converter installations, replacements, and major upgrades, as well as recommissioning following repair or retrofit. Our engineers verify full system functionality under operating conditions, check electrical connections and control system configuration, and confirm performance before handing back to the operator. Recommissioning is also available following extended downtime or major component replacement to ensure safe and reliable restart.
On-site repair and component replacement
Where a component can be replaced in the field without returning the converter to our repair center, we do it. Our field teams carry a range of critical spare parts for the most common converter platforms and can perform IGBT module replacement, capacitor bank replacement, control board swaps, and driver circuit repairs directly at the turbine. For complex repairs requiring workshop facilities, we coordinate return logistics to minimize turbine downtime.
Retrofit and upgrade field support
Many converter upgrades and retrofits require on-site technical support to complete safely and correctly. Our field service teams work alongside our retrofit engineering team to support the physical installation and commissioning of upgrade packages, including IGBT module replacements and hardware modifications. This ensures that upgrades are completed to specification and that the converter is returned to full operation with the expected performance improvement.
